Can I get partial unemployment if I get a job making less money dure to health reasons that I am having?

I want to transfer into a new department at my job. However I will be making a lot less money. I need to transfer because the job that I am currently doing is affecting my health. Can I collect partial unemployment if I transfer to another job making les money due to health issues?

It will depend on how much you make after the transfer and your state’s unemployment rules. There is no automatic entitlement to unemployment compensation just because of a demotion, transfer or other reduction in pay. The purpose of UI is to provide an income “safety net”, not to insulate you from income reductions.

You cannot receive unemployment benefits if you are employed. It doesn’t matter what your income is, whether it’s more or less than your last position — if you are employed, you are not eligible.

Despite what the other two people said, there is an option where if you’re making under a certain amount of money per pay period, you are eligible for unemployment. Check with your particular area to see how much you’re eligible for.

I know up in Canada, that they allow you to make a certain amount of hours per week before you they won’t pay you. You just have to do a weekly reporting of your earnings, and other monies.

I hope that this helps you.
