When applying for a job that wants a sample of my writing, what kind of topic should I write for the sample?

I am applying for a research assistant job, which demands excellent writing skills. The job wants a 1 page writing sample (to determine my writing skills) along with my resume and cover letter. What is the best topic to write on for my writing sample?

Here are a couple links that may help. I would choose a topic relating to your job.

you could write about the history of the company, and /or about any community/charity work they are involved in.

Send something politically correct, business-related, and technical. Avoid sending anything that has errors in it as this will take you out of the running. If you ahve anything published, that’s always a good choice. And really, if you’re not sure about it, get a professional to look over it. I use http://www.wordtechs.com.

Good luck snagging this new challenge!

A simulated grant proposal would probably be best if this is an academic position. If it’s industrial, write about a technical project you’ve been involved with.
