the “objective” heading of a job resume?

hi, can you guys give me some constructive feedback on a sample objective statement on my resume? thanks!

Objective:
to work for (company name), I am particularly interested in the (job title) position.

my goal is to try and be specific about what job I’m interested in, but at the same time, if the hiring manager sees that I may fit better with another position I want to leave that possibility open as well. I know the statement doesn’t really sound eloquent. any advice is appreciated =)

  1. Jenni says:

What I’ve always done in the past is just simply put the following.

Objective: (job title) with (company name).

The place where you want to elaborate on this is in your cover letter. So in the first paragraph of your cover letter you might say something like

“I am applying for the position of (job title) with (company name).”

and then in that same paragraph give a little more detail about where you found out about the job and why it sparked your interest before going into the details of why you are a perfect fit for the position in subsequent paragraphs.
