Can I work a commision job and still collect unemployment?

I have been offered a sales job but they want me to work for commission only. I am on unemployment right now and I have never worked for straight commission…I am afraid with how the economy is right now and do not want to loose my unemployment? Any suggestions?

its really hard to work for straight commission you don’t know if your even going to sale anything your self employed anyway so yes you can

When you file for your benefits – you know all those questions about if you were able to work and looked for work. I’m asked if I worked for commission. If you receive $20 in commission you report it when you file and your unemployment check is most likely reduced by the commission amount. You would not have to claim commission until it is paid (by check – because cash leaves no paper trail). You can work this job, use it to network with customers and collect unemployment.
