What to include in a job resume?

I’m 16 years old and planning to apply for The Cookie Corner.
Since it’s not really a professional job, what should I include in my resume?
I don’t have any working experience, but I do have volunteer work.

Any help or advice would be nice. Thank you.

  1. Russell B says:

By all means, include any volunteer experience you may have had. After all, these actually are jobs…they are just unpaid jobs. The experience is just as good as with a paid job. It also indicates you are industrious and choose to spend your time on worthwhile activities such as volunteering. This says a lot about your character and your work ethic.

At a retail job such as the Cookie Corner, what they are probably most looking for is a someone who is a hard worker and most of all dependable. So be sure to line up some references from the volunteer work you’ve done and give those references when you apply for the job. Encourage them to call your references and specifically ask about your good work ethic and how dependable you are. This will go a long way towards getting you the job. Trust me on this, I’ve been a hiring manager for over 25 years, including the retail industry.
