For those out of work, would you be willing to “hire” a Job Search Consultant?

Would you be willing to hire a Job Search Consultant on a contingency basis to find work for you? Meaning you owe them nothing unless they find work for you, and you accept?

For hypothesis sake, let’s say it was a flat percentage based on salary, payable over 2 installments. This isn’t fishing for business, I’m looking for arguments on both sides. Why or why not? Pros, cons? What percentage, if any, do you think would be fair?

  1. KK says:

If the person was a credible professional and could truly assist with finding me a respectable and decent paying job, I’d consider it. But I wouldn’t take a self-proclaimed “expert” and assume he/she can actually do something I can do on my own. It really depends on their expertise, their years of experience, their education, etc.
