Learn HOW TO WRITE A RESUME : HOW TO WRITE A COVER LETTER : HOW TO LAND A JOB
How can I make a “follow up call” for my job search (a week later) without giving away my identity?

I have good reasons for me not to give away my name, age and grade level in school when I make my “follow up” call.

How can I not reveal my name and my age when I make the follow up call to see how the hiring process is going? (for a minimum wage job or close-to minimum wage job)
actually, in this situation I do have a good reason, but it’s long and complicated

You can’t. It is considered rude in a professional setting not to announce who you are when asking questions about their business.

There are no good reasons not to reveal your name when making a follow up call. It is unlikely that they will ask as much information as your age or grade level in school.

Simply put, you should say something like: “Hello, my name is (John Doe). I (had an interview)/(submitted an application) for (the position) last week, and was calling to see if the position has yet been filled.”

If you insist on making the call anonymously, go to a location other than home to call (many businesses have caller ID). You can say, “I saw a (sign)/(advertisement) regarding hiring for (position). Have the openings been filled?”

It’s definitely not the most polite way to conduct business, however.
