Can you claim unemployment while working a part time job?

I currently have two jobs (one full time and one part time). My full time job may lay me off soon and I was wondering if I can claim unemployment if I kept my part time still. I only work 16 hours a week.

You can collect unemployment while still working your part time job. But there is a stipulation. Here is an example. If you are scheduled to get lets say 300 through unemployment. And you make 250 at your part time job, then you obviously have to report the hours that you worked for your job, so you wont get the full 300, you will only get the difference of the 50.

You may file for unemployment while working a part-time job, but only if you accurately report the amount of money that you are earning from the part time job every time that you claim unemployment benefits. You may receive some benefits, but usually less than if you were not working at all. For example:

    a. In CA, your benefit is reduced by 3/4 of what you make at the part time job, if you make more than $100, by nothing if you make less than $25, and by the difference between what you make and $25, if you make $25-$100.
    b. In NY, your benefit is reduced 25% per day that you work per week.
