Which IRS Schedule to use for deducting airfare and hotel expenses for job search if you’re unemployed?

I have been currently unemployed for a year now. On October 2009 and March 2010, I flew to another state for an interview and didn’t get the job. I would like to deduct the airfare and hotel expenses on my 2009 IRS Form 1040. Which IRS Schedule form do I need to use to deduct my traveling expenses? Is it Schedule A, Line 21?

None. Those are not deductible expenses.

If you have not been working for over a year, your job search expenses are not deductible.

If you have been out of work for less than a year, you may deduct job search expenses for seeking employment in your current trade or profession. Use Form 1040 Schedule A, miscellaneous deductions subject to a 2% of AGI floor.
