Are you eligible for unemployment if you have to quit your job due to relocation?

I have to quit my job because my fiance got a new job and we have to relocate. Somebody told me that I would still be able to qualify for unemployment if this happens. Is this true?

Check your state unemployment laws, but generally, UNemployment is for those who become UNvoluntarily employed. Quitting usually excludes you.

You left your job voluntarily so unemployment does not apply in this case

in many states relocation is just cause to quit.
file and appeal if necessary that is the only way to know for sure.
since you are not married that may affect the determination but to know for sure you must file.

you can try and file – it’s all done online anymore – every states rules are different
