Use a profession letter layout (addresses at top and signature sign off at the bottom. Keep the paragraphs simple and to the point, you do not wish to bore them, this should be a letter to draw their interest so that they wish to read your CV and meet you. 1st paragraph: introduce yourself and the title of the position that you are applying for. Also tell them how you found out about the position (My name is ...... and I am writing in regards to the position of 'engineer' at '1234 constructions' as advertised in the 'daily gazette' on 27 May 2009.) 2nd paragraph: this is where you list your skills and experience. Use key works from the position description to blend in your skills to the advertised position. 3rd paragraph: Close with thanking them for reviewing your application and you look forward to hearing from them soon.
